Leadership Awards Nomination Packets for 2016-2017 are now closed.
The “Outstanding Achievement in Leadership” award recognizes a student that is in one or more activities on campus extends his or her involvement beyond the campus and into the community. The individual portrays both strong leadership characteristics and academics. He or she serves as a role model for the student body by volunteering, participating in events, excelling in school, reaching out to fellow students, and portraying an overall positive attitude. Recommenders must include 2 specific examples of how the student meets the stated criteria.
The “Emerging Leader of the Year” award recognizes a new club officer and/or member who most noticeably demonstrates initiative, motivation, and potential for continued student leadership within the club or organization. Recommenders must include 2 examples of how the candidate demonstrated maturity, passion, and dedication to the club and/or organization.
The “Most Involved Leader” award recognizes a student leader whom publicly shows involvement in college related events. Has inspired students to become better leaders. By doing so, has made our campus a more inclusive environment. The recommender must include 2 examples of the students efforts to show their leadership skills in activities, roles, etc.
The “Unsung Leader” award recognizes a student leader that isn’t always recognized for their amazing contribution to their club and/or organization. Stays low key, works hard behind the scenes, and inspires individuals to become better leaders. By doing so, has made our campus a more inclusive environment. The recommender must include 2 examples of the students efforts to show their leadership skills in activities, roles, etc.
The “Outstanding Student Club of the Year” award recognizes the group that has had the most positive influence on the student body and made an outstanding contribution to Cañada College as an organization. The club will have gone above and beyond to reach new students, program events, and make the campus a better place. Nominations must include 2 descriptions of innovative ideas, how the organization has improved, how the organization has responded to the needs of the campus community, any outstanding events, programs, speakers, services, etc.
The “Most Improved Student Club and/or Organization” award recognizes a group that has shown tremendous ability to address, and overcome challenges. Candidates should demonstrate a progressive interest in club improvement, developing leadership within membership, and show a renewed energy and approach towards their activities and program efforts. Recommenders must include 2 examples of how the club increased membership, visibility on campus, and/or made contributions with greater levels of activity.
The “Most Involved Club of the Year” award recognizes the club who has participated in numerous Student Senate events through tabling and interactive booths, and had significant club attendance at meetings.
The “Outstanding New Club” award recognizes an club that was established this past school year and has demonstrated outstanding leadership, organization, made an effort to recruit new members, and shows potential to stay active for many years. The recommender must include 2 examples of the program in detail and include information regarding innovation, creativity in delivery, content, etc.
The “Outstanding Club Event of the Year” award recognizes a student club that successfully planned and implemented an outstanding and effective campus-wide event. Recommenders must include 2 examples on why the project was chosen, the purpose, and how the project benefited the community.
The “Advisor of the Year” award recognizes a faculty or staff member currently serving as an advisor who has been a visible and integral part to the success of the student club and/or organization by providing continuous support and contributing to the growth and development of individual students in the organization. Recommenders must provide 2 specific examples of how the advisor has supported the club members leadership development, demonstrated professionalism, character, and exceptional care for students at Cañada.
