Eligibility

Permanent employees who have completed their probationary period are eligible to receive up to $1,000 in reimbursement per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). Applications must also meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Annually attended conferences and/or mandatory trainings will be reimbursed the first time an individual attends.
  • Conference/workshop learning should be disseminated to others through a presentation, frequently asked questions, report, or other dissemination method.
  • Requests need to reflect professional development or growth in one of three areas:
    • Professional: Develop job-related skills
    • Personal: Enhance role within the institution
    • Work-life balance: Related to health and wellness

Because of funding limitations, Classified Professional Development Funds are not available to reimburse mileage for opportunities within the District.


 

Steps for Classified Employee Conference Reimbursement 

 

Before the conference

Classified employees may request a maximum of $1,000 of conference/workshop reimbursement per fiscal year. Applicants should complete the following steps at least 60 days prior to the conference/workshop:

  • Complete CSD Conference Advance/Pre-Approval including supervisor's signature - please indicate if requesting pre-approval or an advance check at the top of the page (out-of-state conferences/workshops must have President’s approval).
  • Complete the Classified Professional Development Application (fillable form when opened in Internet Explorer), including personal statement (the personal statement must be an original statement, unique to you. Duplicated statements from previous applications or from other staff-members will not be approved for Classified Professional Development.)
  • Provide a copy of the conference/workshop final or preliminary agenda if available (final preferred)
  • Submit the completed Classified Professional Development Application and CSD Conference Advance/Pre-Approval forms and final/preliminary agenda to the Director of Professional Development and Innovation

Applications for conference/workshop reimbursement will be reviewed using the Classified Professional Development Conference Application Rubric. Applicants are encouraged to review the rubric when they apply for conference/workshop reimbursement. Applicants and supervisors will be notified of decisions by email. Conference/workshop reimbursement is based on the funds available and eligibility requirements, including meeting the rubric guidelines; therefore, approval for reimbursement is not guaranteed.

After the conference

Classified Employees approved for Conference/Workshop Reimbursement must complete the following steps within 30 days of attending the conference/workshop:

  • Complete the Statement of Conference Expense form
  • Print confirmation email explaining the funds approved (provide for supervisor signature)
  • Gather receipts, conference/workshop agenda, and other materials
  • Collect original signatures and proof of payment
  • Submit form, receipts, conference/workshop agenda, and other materials to the Director of Professional Development and Innovation
  • Email the Director of Professional Development and Innovation with 3 takeaways from the conference/workshop (for publication in the Professional Learning Newsletter)

Neglecting to complete approved/paid professional development opportunities could result in denial of future professional development applications and/or tuition reimbursement.


 

Classified Professional Development Application Review Process

The Classified Professional Development Work Group will review Applications for Conference/Reimbursement within two weeks of receiving the application.

The Classified Professional Development Work Group will review applications using the Classified Professional Development Conference Application Rubric. Names and other identifying information will be removed from applications for the review process.

Applications will be reviewed if funds are available. If funds are no longer available, applicants will be notified via email.
