Global Online Learning (GOL)
Without leaving your country, our Global Online Learning (GOL) allows students 18 years or older, and high school graduates to obtain course credits that are accepted by 150+ universities in our College.
University Partnership network. GOL courses are live or asynchronous courses that are 100% online and taught by our San Mateo Colleges of Silicon Valley full time or adjunct professors.
Who is Eligible for GOL?
- Students need to have a high school diploma, a high school equivalency, or be at least 18 years old at the beginning of the academic semester.
- Same English Proficiency requirement as our on campus program: TOEFL 56; IELTS 5.5; Duolingo 85. For other options, see our full list of Proficiency Requirements.

Changing GOL to F-1
When you are ready, you can smoothly make a transition from GOL student to F-1 on campus student. Please contact caninternational@smccd.edu for questions about the process. You will need to complete the international application as an F-1 student and submit a bank statement and passport, in addition to your current transcript.
