About/New STEM Students


The STEM Center is a full-service program of staff and resources to support students from their first-year experience to their transfer year.

The STEM Center is located in Building 9, 2nd Floor. Currently, we are now fully online on Canvas. Admittance to the Canvas page will be given when you declare your major in a STEM field. If you have not received your invite to our Canvas page email Marcella at, grantm@smccd.edu.

Support Resources for your First Year

Early Preparation for Transfer, STEM students have transferred to 26 universities including: 

    • UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC San Diego, UC Davis, UC Santa Cruz, UC Merced
    • Cal Poly SLO, San Francisco State, San Jose State, Sacramento State, CSU Chico, Cal Poly Pomona
    • Stanford Santa Clara, Cornell, Carnegie Mellon

Assistance Finding Financial Resources


To become a STEM student at Cañada College:

  1. Follow steps 1-5 on the Admission and Records page.
    • IMPORTANT: When you get to step 5 (Meet with an Academic Counselor), discuss your major recommended courses listed here with your counselor to make sure you register for the RIGHT classes for your STEM  MAJOR.

  2.  Sign-up for COLTS-CON on their program page 
    • COLTS-CON is a FREE program designed to improve college skills and prepare new, continuing, and STEM students for their next semester at Cañada College. 

  3. Sign-up for Math Jam on the Jams webpage
    • Math Jam is a Week intense math "mini-course" created by Cañada faculty to help students learn most of the concepts that students will see in their up and coming math class.
