ASPIRES Scholars Program

The ASPIRES Scholars Program is a two-week Introduction to Research Internship Program for freshmen and sophomore STEM students. Held during the winter break, the program will introduce students to research and cover the following topics: applying for internships; introduction to the research process; university laboratory tours; library presentation on conducting literature reviews; university transfer process for community college students; presentation skills; preparing for up-coming math and/or physics courses (Math Jam and Physics Jam); and project-specific topics including experimental methods, instrumentation, and data acquisition and analysis.

  • Must be an engineering, math, computer science, physics, chemistry, or biology student in one of the following California community colleges: Cañada College, College of San Mateo, Skyline College – priority is given to Cañada College engineering students
  • Must have completed at least 12 units of college credit by January 2018, including Trigonometry or higher
Program Period

9 a.m. - 3 p.m., Tuesday-Friday, January 2 - January 5, 2018

9 a.m. - 3 p.m., Monday-Friday, January 8 - January 12, 2018

Location        Bldg 9 at Cañada College and SCI 256 at San Francisco State University
  • $600 stipend (Must be a US citizen or permanent resident, or eligible to work in the US to receive the stipend.)
  • Priority consideration for the ASPIRES Summer Group and Individual Internships
  • Free lunches
