English C1000E Academic Reading and Writing

In this course, students receive instruction in academic reading and writing, including writing processes, effective use of language, analytical thinking, and the foundations of academic research. This course includes embedded support. Formerly ENGL 105. Transfer credit: UC, CSU (A2, A3).

Career 137 Life and Career Planning

Provides a comprehensive approach to life and career planning. Topics include self-assessment (values, skills personality and interests), and an analysis of career development over the life span. An intensive career investigation that encompasses decision-making, goal-setting, job search strategies, resume writing and interviewing skills. Transfer: CSU: E1, UC.

Spring semester

English 110 Composition, Literature, and Critical Thinking

In this course students read and analyze works of fiction, poetry, and drama and write critical expository essays that demonstrate skills in analysis, critical thinking, critical and argumentative writing, research strategies, and information literacy. Transfer: CSU (CSU GE Area A3; Area C2), UC (IGETC Area 1B)
