ESS Program Benefits

→ Learn the Foundation of Entrepreneurship

Understand how to plan, launch, and manage a small business from idea to operation.

→ Business & Accounting Basics

Learn practical accounting skills, budgeting, and financial basics needed to manage a small business.

→ Develop Creative Business Ideas

Explore creativity, opportunity recognition, and strategic thinking used by successful entrepreneurs.

→ Bilingual Business Skills

Strengthen Spanish communication skills for working with clients, partners, and customers in bilingual business environments.

→ Laptops Provided in Class

Laptops are available for in-class use, so students don’t need to bring their own device

→ Earn a Stackable College Certificate

Complete 7.5 units in two semesters and continue toward an A.S. Degree in Business.

Not an SMCCD student yet?
Complete the free online application before registering for classes. If you are already a student, go to step 3.

Apply to Cañada College

Students are encouraged to attend the free registration workshops in July before fall classes begin. At these workshops, students can receive help with the college application, class registration, and get answers to any questions they may have.

Summer Workshops Schedule

A counselor can help you register for Fall 2026 classes and answer questions about your schedule, residency, or any holds on your account. Fall registration opens in May 2026.

You have several options for counseling support:

Attend the Summer Registration Workshops – An onsite counselor will be available during the Summer Workshops in step 3
Make an appointment in Redwood City – Students may schedule an appointment with a counselor at the main campus at any time.
Menlo Park Site – A counselor will be available for last minute registration help on-site beginning Fall 2026

Attend the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 classes and earn your 13-unit Entrepreneurship for Spanish Speakers Certificate.
