Student Equity and Achievement Plan

The Student Equity and Achievement Program is an initiative started by the California State Chancellor's Office in 2018. It combined the statewide initiatives "Student Success and Support Program"," Basic Skills Initiative,” and “Student Equity."

We get $1.8 million from the state to ensure we are boosting achievement for disproportionately impacted student groups.

The 2022-2025 Cañada College Student Equity and Achievement Plan has been aligned to the California Community College System’s new student success metrics. Colleges were instructed to use the Student Success Metrics (SSM) Dashboard to access their data for their overall student population. Colleges are required to set three-year goals from the SSM for the overall student population and for each student equity population shown to have DI (disproportionate impact) in the following success metrics:

  • Access-Successful Enrollment (enroll within one year after applying)
  • Retention-Fall to Spring (all students)
  • Completion of transfer-level math and English (within the first year)
  • Vision Goal Completion (earned credit certificates over 18 units or associate degree within three years)
  • Transfer to a four-year institution (in state or out of state, within three years)
