Teaching Opportunities

We are looking for both new and experienced part-time educators in the field of interior design and related fields. Whether you are a seasoned industry professional, looking for a career change, or a recent college graduate, we are interested in hearing from you.

Our adjunct faculty teach courses in fall, spring and summer session in 6- to 18-week sessions, depending on the course scheduling. In-person courses are held at our campus in Redwood City, California. Online courses are held in our current Learning Management System, Canvas.

How to Apply

If you are interested in applying, submit your application, resume and cover letter to our Part-Time Interior Design Instructor Pool available through the District link below. On your cover letter, include the courses you would be interested in teaching as well as if you would teach in-person (day, afternoon, or evening) and/or online.

Faculty Diversity Internship Program (FDIP)

If you are new to teaching, we also encourage you to apply to the San Mateo Community College District (SMCCD) Faculty Diversity Internship Program (FDIP).

Eligible applicants for FDIP are:

  • graduate students within one year of meeting regular faculty minimum qualifications (MA/MS or doctoral degree) in the discipline in which they would teach;

  • persons who meet regular faculty minimum qualifications but who lack teaching experience; or,

  • industry professionals who possess any license or certificate to do the work in their field and (1) be within one year of completing the associate degree and have six years industry experience in the discipline, or (2) have completed the associate degree and have completed five years of industry experience in that discipline.
