RSI Training and Compliance

All faculty teaching online encouraged to attend upcoming training sessions or access asynchronous resources to ensure they meet RSI (Regular and Substantive Interaction) requirements.

Promotion of POCRWebsite

Faculty are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the new POCR website.

QOTL-E Course Awareness and Access

The QOTL-E course will be shared with deans to ensure new faculty or those needing immediate Canvas orientation can access the course. QOTL Program

Professional Development Pathways Feedback

Members involved in the new district DEAC workgroup on professional development pathways will aim to create pathways across campuses while allowing flexibility for unique program needs.
Faculty are invited to share thoughts on certification pathways and ways to better align training options across the district.

Newsletter and Broader Campus Communication

Information on the QOTL-E course, POCR website, and RSI updates should be included in the President’s Newsletter and other campus communications.

Action Items & Announcements for Spring 2025

  1. Distance Education (DE) Handbook Revision
  • The goal is to have a first version of the updated DE Handbook ready by the end of Spring 2025.
  • The Academic Senate approval is targeted for Fall 2025.
  • Handbook revisions will incorporate WebSMART 9 updates, expected to be rolled out in March 2025.
  1. WebSMART 9 Implementation
  • The district will transition to WebSMART 9 in March 2025, aligning with Summer 2025 registration.
  • The updated DE Handbook will include a section explaining the new registration and course definitions for faculty and students.
  1. QOTL (Quality Online Teaching & Learning) Training
  1. Classroom Technology Guidelines & QR Code System
  • QR codes will be installed in classrooms by Spring 2025 to provide on-demand tech support.
  • Faculty will have access to troubleshooting steps and IT support contacts via QR codes.
  • A possible April Flex Day session will introduce faculty to the system.
  1. Accreditation & RSI Review Preparation
  • The Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI) review is scheduled for early 2026.
  • Skyline College and CSM have RSI training in place, and there is a discussion on whether Cañada College will implement a similar program.
  1. Accessibility Standards Compliance
  • The Chancellor’s Office Accessibility Capability Maturity Model (ACMM) initiative is in progress.
  • A new accessibility requirement will take effect in April 2026, and discussions are ongoing about hiring an accessibility specialist at the district level.
