Common Parking and Permit Questions
Essentially, your vehicle’s license plate will act as your virtual parking permit. Individuals will register their vehicle plate information into an online virtual parking permit system when purchasing their permit. The permit software then generates a virtual permit linked to that vehicle's license plate number.
Officers use a handheld device to scan and capture the license plate. It is then automatically referenced against the secure parking database to verify that the individual has a valid permit. If the license plate and vehicle information are not associated with a valid virtual permit, the vehicle will be subject to a citation.
- No virtual parking permit required for motorcycle parking
- No virtual parking permit required if your vehicle is properly displaying a valid CA state disability placard or valid CA state DP license plate.
