Free Drive-Thru Emergency Food Distribution at Skyline & CSM

If you, your family, or students you interact with are in need of free groceries during this challenging The San Mateo County Community College District, in partnership with Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, is holding FREE Drive-thru Emergency Food Distributions, every Wednesday and Friday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday distributions take place at Skyline College, and Friday distributions take place at College of San Mateo.

WEDNESDAYS (Skyline College):

FRIDAYS (College of San Mateo):

IMPORTANT INFORMATION for all Food Distributions

  • COVID-19 guidelines will be observed
  • Only Drive-thru customers will be served
  • Open to all students and the community
  • This does not impact public charge
  • No I.D. is required to pick up food
  • We will distribute food while supplies last

Our goal is to increase access to healthy and nutritious food for students, their families and our community. We look forward to seeing you there!

 

Library Workshops & Curbside Pick Up

The Cañada College Library is hosting a series of drop-in workshops throughout the semester. Workshops will be offered in English and Spanish. View and register for upcoming sessions here. In addition, students, faculty and staff can request Library items for curbside pick up, including: textbooks, graphic novels, ESL readers, Spanish language books, and items from regular circulating collection. Everyone is encouraged to attend the Speaker Series and check out the new interactive format, “After Hours in the STEM Center with Rance Bobo.” The new speaker series format is an interactive late night interview style which allows the viewers to ask questions during the interview. You can watch previously recorded episodes, but why just watch when you can participate live! This week’s special guest will be Michael Lewis Oberti, an SMCCCD STEM alum who transferred from CSM. He will be talking about his experiences as a Systems Engineer at Sandia National Laboratories. Don’t just sit back and watch the episode later, come join live and be a part of the experience!

Virtual tours will be offered October 2 through November 20. We will speak with admissions, exploring student academic support programs and hear from Cañada alum at the campuses. Professor Alicia Aguirre, City Council member and former Mayor of Redwood City, will lead a discussion of the importance of voting and ways to promote voting in your community. She will also discuss ways to get your voice out and the voice of others out, even if you are not able to vote.
