Candice Johnson (Program Services Coordinator)

Academic Support and Learning Technologies - Learning Center

Classified Senate Co-Activities Coordinator

It took a total of 13 years for Candice Johnson to get from her high school diploma to her Bachelor's degree. Her journey was challenging, and she made it. She learned that academic and personal growth go hand-in-hand. She applies pretty much everything she learned in college classrooms and by getting involved on campus to her life, both personally and professionally. Candice is a 1st generation college graduate, a Cañada alum, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services from Notre Dame de Namur University. Her academic journey was long and adventurous, with 3 different majors and even indecision about whether or not to continue with college. Thankfully, she stuck with it and now has the daily opportunity to give back to students just like her. When she's not working, Candice enjoys traveling, listening to music, and hanging out with family and friends.

Classified Senate Vice President

Margarita "Maggie" Lozano’s journey into a career in higher education began with her involvement and participation in TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) at SJSU. As a first generation and low-income student, SSS connected her to a community of mentors dedicated to buttress the success of historically underrepresented students in education. As a result, Ms. Lozano developed a passion to work in education and has since been involved in various areas of student affairs including university housing services, community centers, and outreach programs. Ms. Lozano is currently serving as the Program Services Coordinator for Cañada College’s TRIO Upward Bound and it is her goal as the Vice President of Classified Senate to continue advocating for the needs of underserved communities.
