Star Parties

The Astronomy Department, in conjunction with student clubs hosts a Star Party once a semester. This event is open to both the campus community and the public at large. Activities usually involve telescope observations, free food, costumes, fun games, and occasionally an astronomy presentation.

Star parties in the fall semester are usually scheduled for late October, and in the spring mid-to-late April.

The next Star Party is aimed for November 6, 2026. Please check the events calendar for updates.

CONSTRUCTION NOTICE: due to the adjacent construction of our college's upcoming daycare center the observatory is closed until late October. Contact eltetoa@smccd.edu for more information, or to schedule alternative arrangements using our portable telescopes.
