Objectives
In compliance with state mandates, DSPS:
- Provides academic support services to students with permanent and temporary disabilities.
- Provides reasonable accommodations such as sign language interpreters, readers, notetakers, registration assistance, facilitation of access to all programs, special adaptive equipment, arrangements for specialized educational materials, and test-taking accommodations on a case by case basis.
- Advises and provides information to all program participants including referrals regarding services for on/off campus agencies where students may receive disability related services and support. Accesses student records, monitors academic progress, and provides advisement to students with disabilities.
- Serves as the campus liasion regarding issues/regulations related to Cañada's disabled population (students, staff, and visitors).
