Maintenance & Tips

The Number 1 item of importance in your site is - Current Content! Check all of your content on a regular basis to make sure everything is up-to-date.

Check for spelling and grammar mistakes. Make sure your pages reflect that we are an institution of higher education.

Use only the authorized Cañada College logo. Do not change the logo in any way!

  • Excessive use of body text in all upper case letters
  • Excessive use of italics
  • Excessive use of bolded body text
  • Posting pages that are incomplete - Don't post a page that has 'Coming Soon' or 'Check back'

Organizing & Deleting Files

It's a good idea to organize all the files you plan to upload in a specific folder on your desktop somewhere. It is also a good idea if you have a lot of files by date, to start the name of the file with the date. That way they will be organized so that you can more easily keep track of what will need to be deleted at some future time.

Keep an organized structure to your site. You can add a folder to your site by clicking on the 'New' button and choosing 'New Folder'. You may want a separte folder for your pdfs, or a folder by year, semester, exerciese, etc. Folders are named like files - short, sensible names with no spaces, and no special characters other than a hyphen or underscore, generally no capital letters.

If you have pdf files/forms in your directory, it is highly recommended that you perform some 'housekeeping' tasks on a regular basis by deleting old, out-of-date documents. Because document files are not stored on the Omniupdate server, you must click on the 'Production' tab (far right) to view pdfs & other document files, navigate to the file to be deleted, and then click on the trashcan icon. Be very careful with this - it cannot be undone. Make sure you are deleting the right file.
