Best Practices and Resources in Support of our Jewish Students During Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur
This year, Rosh Hashanah begins at sunset on Sunday, September 20 and ends on the evening of Yom Kippur on Monday, September 21. The Office of Equity has prepared a series of best practices for you to support our Jewish students, faculty, staff and administrators on campus. This special time is marked by important contemplation and practices that may change the way our campus community accesses food, water, rest and reflection. More information about the observation of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur is included here. In particular, we share these best practices, resources and event(s) in support of our students and colleagues.
Violent Intruder Drills September 14
SMCCCD will conduct districtwide Violent Intruder Drills on Monday, September 14, at 10:45 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. at Cañada and other District locations. The approximately five-minute drills will focus on the Hide component of the District’s Run, Hide, Fight emergency response strategy, including locking and barricading doors, silencing devices and remaining out of sight until an official All Clear is issued. Students should follow RAVE emergency notifications, campus announcements, and instructions from Public Safety during the drill.
