Chris Tigno is in his fourth season as the Colts' head coach. Prior to taking over at Cañada, Coach Tigno was the Head Girl's Volleyball coach at nearby San Mateo High School, where he led the Bearcat Varsity to Central Coast Section (CCS) playoffs in six of his eight seasons there. Prior to that, Chris was on the coaching staff of Notre Dame High School in Belmont. Chris has also coached with various USA Volleyball junior clubs in San Mateo County since 2005, most recently Red Rock VBC and Breakwater VBC. Chris holds a USAV Coaching Accreditation Program certification, as well as IMPACT and Positive Coaching Alliance certifications. Chris was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and graduated from Stanford University with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, and received a law degree from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law. Susie brings over 20 years experience as a player and coach to Cañada, most recently at Half Moon Bay High School, where she was the program's Varsity Head Volleyball Coach. Susie has coached both boy’s and girl’s volleyball club teams of all age levels, including the last five years with Red Rock VBC and Breakwater VBC, and at various high schools in the local San Francisco Peninsula area. She played junior college volleyball at Foothill College, which reached the California State Junior College playoffs in each of her two years there. Susie was raised in Half Moon Bay, California. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from California State University, Sacramento, and recently earned a Paralegal Certificate at Cañada.
Cathy Gerona - Assistant Coach
Cathy is a Peninsula native, and and has extensive coaching experience at the high school level at San Mateo High School, where she coaches the JV girls team and heads the Boys' Varsity program. At 650 Xtreme, she not only has head coach responsibility for girls and boys' junior club teams, but she also runs, and is the head instructor, for the club's volleyball fundamentals skills camps. Cathy competed for the Balboa HS Bucaneers (San Francisco) as well as the San Francisco State University club team.
Natalie Harden - Assistant Coach
Natalie Harden joins the Colt coaching staff after two highly successful seasons as the starting middle blocker for the Colts and recognition as an all-Coast Conference player in both her junior college seasons. A Redwood City native, and Sequoia HS alum, Natalie was also standout basketball player at CSM, and brings a wealth of player and leadership experience to the staff. Natalie coaches girls' club junior volleyball at 650 Extreme. Natalie is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy at San Jose State University.
Angelica Petelo - Graduate Assistant
Angelica Petelo joins the Colt coaching staff while she continues her studies toward a Business degree at Cañada. Angelica was a standout all-conference player on Coach Tigno's Varsity team at San Mateo High School. She went on to compete at Cal State Humboldt and Redwoods College for before her return to the Bay Area. She currently coaches the Junior Varsity team at Crystal Springs Uplands in Hillsborough.
