Bob came to Cañada in 2004 and is currently the Director of he Career Center. Before Cañada, Bob honed many of his skills over the years in such capacities as a Regional Restaurant Manager, Elementary School Teacher, Regional Manager of Training and Development for Kinko's Southern California, and as a successful entrepreneur who owned his own tech business. In addition, Bob holds a Bachelor's Degree, Teaching Credential, and Masters in Counseling.

Julie Lamson (SparkPoint Coordinator)

Julie Lamson is a SparkPoint Coordinator at Cañada College. She recieved her Bachlor's Degree in Business with a concentration in Management from San Francisco State University in 2010. Julie began college at skyline and CSM, and when she graduated from SFSU, she knew she wanted to work within the District. She has worked with the SparkPoint network for over 6 years. Julie coordinates SparkPoint activites and services while also providing one on one Financial Coaching services to students and their families. She loves to learn from students and is passionate about assisting students to reach their academic and finacial success. Julie is a Bay Area native, raised in Pacifica. She enjoys Bay Area sports and loves exploring all of the food and entertainment our area has to offer.

Kiran Malavade (Instructor)

Humanities and Social Sciences - English


Prof. Malavade has been teaching all levels of English and Reading classes at Cañada College since 2008. She became a teacher because all social justice work starts with education, and in the classroom we have the opportunity to change our own perspective and to change the perspective of others. She believed that learning should be fun as well as demanding, and that ALL students have a right to a high_quality education. In her spare time, she loved to read, do crosswords, hike, garden, and hang out with her dog, cat, and husband. She also teaches at De Anza College.



Hello everyone. My name is Alexis Madayag and welcome to COLTS Academy! I'm currently a Director of marketing and Teacher at a small education company called The Right Apprach to Education, LLC. I'm a former BTO peer mentor and have been contributing to COLTS Academy for many years. I'm very passionate about access to education for all, arts in education, mental health anti-stigma advocacy and mindfulness practices. I am a graduate from SFSU with a degree in Radio & TV and a minor in Counseling. Currently I'm a panelist and advocate for Seeing Through Stigma, an anti-stigma mental health organization in San Carlos and a member of the Filipino Mental Health Initiative.
