Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. How long may I be an EOPS student?
A:  Students are eligible for EOPS services until they reach 70 units and/or six consecutive semester limits (whichever comes first)
.

2. If I am not eligible for financial aid, can I still receive EOPS services?
A:  If you are in EOPS and qualified for financial aid during the previous semester you can continue to receive EOPS benefits.

3. Does an EOPS student have to enroll in 12 units each semester?
A: New and continuing EOPS students are required to enroll full time (12 units). Students in Supportive Services have different full time requirements.

4. Do I qualify for EOPS if I’ve already been in attendance at Cañada College (CC)?
A:  Student's EOPS status is new upon first contact with the  program.  The six consecutive semesters begin when a student is first determined to be EOPS eligible.  If there is a break in attendance, the student is considered new to EOPS and must re-qualify for eligibility.
Also, as long as the student has earned 70 college-level units or less, the student may be eligibile for EOPS.

5. Are there any exceptions to the eligibility limitations?
A:  You must speak with your EOPS counselor and explain the circumstances in order to determine whether or not you would be eligible for continued EOPS services.
