About CARE

Welcome!
Hello and welcome to Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE) at Cañada College! CARE (Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education) is a collaboration between Cañada College (CC) EOPS and the San Mateo County Department of Social Services (SMCDSS). It is a program designed to help students succeed in college.CARE acknowledges the difficulty many students, as single parents on TANF (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families—formerly AFDC), have to attend college as a result of reasons including problems with child care, transportation, or family difficulties. It is the goal of the CARE program to give TANF participants a chance to expand their educational and job training opportunities by assisting to overcome some of these obstacles.CARE provides students with non-duplicated assistance with child care costs.  Child care service is provided through grants dispursed on specified dates throughout the Fall and Spring semesters.
