Parking Policy for Temporarily Disabled Students
A student with a current DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) temporary or permanent placard, sticker or license plate may park in any of Cañada College's parking lots or designated disabled parking spaces (blue zones). You must display your current DMV placard on the dash of your car or hang it on the rear view mirror for easy visibility.
For temporary ambulatory disabilities, a student may request a temporary college-issued disabled parking permit, valid for up to 6 weeks maximum, by contacting the Disability Resource Center at 650-306-3259 or visiting the Center located in Building 5, Room 207. Students will need to provide written and current (with 30 days) documentation of the disability from their treating physician and complete a form requesting the special college issued parking permit. Temporary college issued parking permits are approved for short term ambulatory disabilities such as broken legs, sprained ankles, torn ligaments, etc. These college issued permits are only valid at Cañada College and are not a substitute for a DMV issued placard. Students with temporary disabled parking may park in any student parking lots or designated disabled parking spaces (blue zones). It will be necessary to display the temporary college issued parking permit on the dash of your vehicle along with a current Cañada College parking permit or daily parking permit. Both need to be prominently displayed on the dash or rear view mirror of your automobile in order to avoid receiving a parking citation.
Anyone with a permanent disability or chronic health condition requiring special parking should apply for disabled parking at the DMV. More information is available at the DMV website, http://www.dmv.ca.gov/
Any questions regarding the issuance of temporary college issued
parking permits may be addressed by contacting Regina Blok,
