Mayra Arellano is a Redwood City native who has dedicated many years into the transformation of her community through positive youth development.  Mayra graduated from Santa Clara University with a B.S in Combined Sciences and a minor in Sociology. Mayra oversees the Cañada College Ambassadors Program. She also develops the school's recruiting activities in association with Cañada's strategic plan. Mayra Arellano can be reached at or 650-306-3166.

Brandon graduated from Half Moon Bay High School. He is planning to transfer to pursue a career in teaching as a high school level math teacher.

Madeline graduated from Menlo- Atherton High School. After long orientations at different schools, Cañada College was her best decision where she knew and knows that people are there to help plus all the different programs. Her goal is to become a clinical nurse midwife where she will have the opportunity to help people in rural parts of the world. She is also striving to open a small business of accessories named Arrows to be able to give back to the community.

Guillermo (Memo) Lopez, has Graduated from Everest Public highschool and is currently focusing on Art and developing his skills in the Art world. He chose the path in Cañada College for its many programs and opportunities as well as the financial help Cañada has to offer. Eventually he plans on working in Animation and possibly working on the next big animated film.

A Bay Area native, Mayra Ortiz began attending Cañada College in the Fall of  2010. Inspired by her coursework in Social Sciences. Mayra became dedicated to serving her local community through various projects. Kevin was raised in Mountain View, California. Instead of following the path of most high school students, Kevin took community college courses and had an early start on his college education. Kevin experienced a variety of classes at Cañada college. He intends on transferring to a UC where he hopes to study a Social Science major. He has interests in medicine, healthcare, fitness, running, and artisan foods.

Aidan is a high school student studying at Cañada in the independent study program. He is planning to transfer to a four year Universtiy to pursue a career in the field of Engineering. In addition to school, he enjoys music and is a chorister of the Ragazzi Boys Chorus. 
 Adelina Montano

Adelina Montaño


Adelina is an International student at Cañada in Interior Design Program. She is planning to transfer to San Francisco State University to study her Master Degree in Arts and PhD in Sustainable Design. She loves architecture, fashion and cinema.

Alondra Reyes is a graduate form Woodside High School. She has come to Cañada College to major in Computer Science and hopes to transfer to a 4 year. Alondra goal is to become a Software Engineer. She thought Cañada was a good choice for her because it provided students with lots of support and opportunities.


Gabriela Ramirez


Gabriela was raised in San Mateo and graduated from Hillsdale High School. She is currently working to become a Social Worker and is in her second year at Cañada College. She likes to be involved in the community as well as helping others. She enjoys music, traveling, and sports.


Josh Valdez


A resident from Redwood City for nearly 18 years, Joshua Valdez has graduated from Summit Prep High school. Joshua is currently pursuing a double major in both Psychology and in Dance. He saw Cañada as his best choice as he plans to transfer to UC Irvine within the next 2 to 3 years. He strives to one day become a well-known choreographer and perhaps be seen in the next Step Up movies as we all know there will be more.
