Work with people in your community as a Patient Care Navigator or Promotor de Salud
Cañada College will hold three information meetings for a new, one-year program, designed to train students to become community health workers.
The Patient Navigation & Health Promotion Program begins this fall. Courses will be taught in the evenings and Saturdays at the Menlo Park Center, 1200 O'Brien Drive in Menlo Park. Tuition and textbook fees will be waived for eligible students. Most courses will also be taught in Spanish.
Students need to commit to a one-year schedule but they will receive on-the-job experience as a patient navigator or promotor while taking courses during the second semester. Students in the program will also receive individual guidance to help them obtain their associates degree or transfer to a university.
The first information session will be held on Tuesday, June 25 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Menlo Park Center. Subsequent information sessions will be held on Friday, July 12 from noon to 1 p.m. and Tuesday, July 30 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
