Work with people in your community as a Patient Care Navigator or Promotor/Promotora de Salud

Are you interested in helping others? Do you have skills in educating or advocating? Are you interested in pursuing a career in the health field? If so, our Patient Navigator Program might be the right choice for you! Help patients navigate through complex systems of the health field during their time of need. Join us in our 1-year cohort program at the Cañada College Menlo Park Center to become a patient navigator! Take our Patient Care Navigator questionnaire

This program is designed as a career ladder program with emphasis on Human Services and Health Science. It provides health education, information, referrals, and client advocacy in both clinic and outreach settings. Career opportunities include entry-level positions in public and non-profit agencies serving families in need of support services. Typical job duties include: conducting home visits, connecting families with resources, keeping records, and identifying home, family or community needs and developing resources with families or communities to meet those needs. Job demand is particularly high for people with bicultural/bilingual skills.

Our program offers great benefits!

Cohort Learning Students in the Patient Navigation Program will be with a group of 15-20 peers throughout the course of the program. Interact, study, and learn with your cohorts as you journey through the program together. Get the support you need from your instructors AND peers!

Free Courses and Textbooks! Courses in the Patient Navigation Program are free to qualified students! Tuition and textbooks for Patient Navigation courses will be provided for students who qualify, saving students hundreds of dollars!

Hands-on Experience Students participating in the Patient Navigation Program will have an opportunity to participate in an internship their last semester if they meet all program requirements. This will allow hands-on experience in the medical field!

Chance to Explore Explore the healthcare field! Students in the Patient Navigation Program will have opportunities to explore different careers in the health field, not just patient navigation.

Support Get the support you need! Students in the program will have workshop opportunities, guidance from a counselor and AACI staff on transferring to a 4-year college, assistance in applying for financial aid, scholarships, Cal Grants, and more!

  • 1-year Patient Navigation & Health Promotion Course Schedule:Convenient evening & Saturday courses
  • Tuition and textbook fees waived for eligible students
  • Get on-the-job experience as a patient navigator or promotor while taking courses during your 2nd semester
  • Receive guidance while working towards your Associates degree and/or transferring to a four-year university
  • Requires 1-year commitment to program and schedule
  • Courses taught at the Cañada College Menlo Park Center located at 1200 O'Brien Drive in Menlo Park
