Site looking for students interested in: work in a hospital setting; wanting to make a serious commitment in volunteering

Education and age of desired intern/volunteer: High school: 14-18 yrs.

Description of opportunity and duties: Depends upon specific position; positions available in various departments. Duties: Information/Escort, filing and paper work in various clinics, customer service in gift shop

Type of health care settings:

  • In-patient: Hospitals

Experience type: Volunteer position

Duration and time of commitment: Summer volunteering – 3-4 hrs/wk from May – August.

Requirements and qualifications needed: TB test, complete on-line compliance items, able to work with diverse people, able to use good judgment, be emotionally mature and friendly, able to listen empathetically without giving medical advice; must be able to follow hospital policies and maintain patient confidentiality

Amount of patient contact: Medium level of adult patient contact

Site’s prior experience with high school students: Yes, has had many high school students before.

Willingness to work with high schools: Yes
