Education and age of desired intern/volunteer: College: 18 yrs. +
Description of opportunity and duties: Depends upon position. Special Projects Volunteer: help plan events for clients and staff; Library Associate: categorize and re-stock library resources; Community Outreach Program Assistant: administrative tasks, manage phones – use Spanish/English skills, information, resource and referral; Administrative Volunteer: complete filing, paperwork and mailings

Duration and time of commitment: Varies upon position – In general 2-4 hours per week for 3-6 months

Requirements and qualifications needed: 18 yrs.+, serious commitment to serving breast cancer survivors; willingness to interact with staff and other volunteers.
Patient populations (i.e. children, seniors): Adults
Amount of patient contact: Varies – little to medium contact with survivors.
Liability issues (relevant if part of internship vs. job shadowing): Not relevant.
Transportation options: By train (www.caltrain.com): Take Caltrain to the California Avenue stop. (All local trains and SOME express trains stop at California Avenue). From the train station, walk along California Avenue (away from the tracks) for two blocks, turn right on Birch Street, then turn left on Cambridge Avenue and walk 1/2 block. We are on the right side at 390 Cambridge Avenue.
By bus (www.vta.org): Take VTA route 22 or 522 to California Avenue. Walk (northwest) along El Camino Real to the next street which is Cambridge Avenue. Turn right and walk 1 1/2 blocks to 390 Cambridge (on the left).
