Health and Medical Career Pathways

 

Your onramp to the Health Career Highway.

East Palo Alto Academy and Cañada College have teamed-up to create a unique program called “Fast Track,” which helps prepare you for a career in an allied health and/or medical field. Opportunities for pursuing a career in the allied health and medical fields have never been better!

But how can you get on the right track and receive the training you need to enter into a medical profession?

Fast Track was designed to accelerate your entry into a health career technical certificate or an Associate of Science degree program. If you complete all four semesters of the program, you will:
        1. identify a health career that is a good fit for you
        2. earn 10 units toward a college degree
        3. be on the Fast Track to a career in health

Some of the courses offered through the Fast Track program will also count toward prerequisites for several high demand health career programs:

Prerequisite Units toward Program
3 units*
 Respiratory Therapy, Surgical Technician, Radiology Technology, Nursing
6 units**
Health Science (BS)
 
*BIOL 130 - Human Biology
**HSCI 100 - General Health Science & HSCI 115 - Introduction to Health Care & Health Professions

In addition to the career programs listed above, the Fast Track Program will provide you with a solid foundation for other health career programs including, Pharmacy Technician, Phlebotomy Technician, Anesthesia Technician, Central Services Technician, EMT, Dental Assistant, Medical Assistant.

Here’s what you need to know...

  • you must be a student in good standing at EPA Academy
  • you must register to be part of the program
  • there are NO fees or charges for courses
  • earn both high school & college credits
  • classes are taught at EPA Academy during regular school hours
  • courses are taught by Cañada College faculty.
