Read What Our Former Players Have to Say:
Dear Coach Rick,
I want to thank you for all you have taught me. The knowledge and wisdom you have imparted upon me has been a great help and support. I believe my success is at least in part due to your sincere support and coaching.
I want to express my deepest gratitude for believing in me. You have been an excellent friend, coach. mentor and a great inspiration for me. You have inspired me to pursue my goals with hard work and dedication. You have shown me the value of etiquettes and professionalism. I want to take this opportunity to say that I had the best time of my life playing for the canada golf team, thank you for believing in me!
I truly appreciate and value everything I have learned from you. It will forever remain a major contributor behind my success and achievements. I really look forward to the day I can do the same for someone else.
Thank you, once again, for your time, support and patience.
"Cañada truly was the perfect place for me in the time of transition. I was not quite ready for university level golf and I needed a program that would take me to that next level, and Cañada provided that. From the coaching to the training room to the classroom, Cañada was the best possible school for me, and I highly highly recommend it. I am so proud to have been named the Canada College Athlete of the Year, and I truly believe it was the environment at Cañada that pushed me to be my best. I couldn't have asked for a better year, for I was able to achieve my dream of playing for a university and receiving a scholarship."
My name is Hannah Murray. I played on the women's Cañada College golf team in my freshman and sophomore year. Community college was not my first choice coming straight from high school, however, being on the women's golf team changed my perspective and college experience. Both of my years playing for Coach Velazquez were tremendously enjoyable and fun! Coach Rick Velazquez was not only an extremely friendly person, but also very passionate about the golf game. It was easy to see that Coach Velazquez knew all of his golfers had potential, and he tried his best to bring out stardom in each one of us. In the middle of my second year's season, my coach talked about colleges and asked what my intentions were for next year. I knew I wanted to continue playing golf, but I wasn't sure where I wanted to transfer. After hours of searching California colleges, I looked out of state, and gravitated to Hope College, Michigan in Holland, Michigan. I visited the private Christian college and they offered me grants to attend in the fall 2013 year. Currently, I am preparing to leave California and attend Hope College and play golf on their women's team. I am so excited and thrilled to have this opportunity. Now, to look back on my past two years, I am so thankful to Canñda College and the women's golf team. Without Coach Valesquez and the rest of the team and supporters, I would not have enjoyed my experience as much as I did. Even though I will be leaving Cañada College and the coast side, I will always remember my amazing experiences and learning I have had with the team.
Thanks so much!
