Think the computer science bubble burst in the dot.com bust? Think again.
High-tech firms in the Silicon Valley are hiring again and they are willing to pay big money for skilled computer science students. A group of computer science students from Cañada recently toured Google and the message was loud and clear - computer science is once again a hot career field.
"Some students have viewed computer science as a risky field for job opportunities since the dot.com bust," said Cathy Lipe, director of the Cañada College MESA Program and former Hewlett-Packard employee. "That's really not the case. High-tech firms are telling us they need more skilled workers in the area of computer science."
Cañada College is an excellent choice for students interested
in computer science. Class sizes are small and professor Chuck
Iverson (above) takes the time to work individually with students
to enhance their understanding of the subject. Students transferring
to four-year colleges and universities from Cañada are
prepared for the field's rigorous academic demands and have
a history of success.
