What is the Student Success Program?
We have created the Student Success Program to assist those who are in academic difficulty. It is directed to students who are on Academic Probation 2 and subject to Dismissal and/or for those who have already been Dismissed from the San Mateo Community College District, which includes Cañada College, College of San Mateo and Skyline College. This is not designed to replace advisement with an academic counselor. It gives information about Dismissal status, sources of advice and counsel, college policies and procedures as applied to students in academic difficulty, and options for students who are dismissed from the college.
Three (3) Steps to success
Step 1: Student Success Workshop
A two hour workshop, facilitated by counselors and staff, focusing on academic policies, academic success skills, and campus resources
Step 2: Counseling
An individual meeting with a counselor to develop a Student Educational Plan (SEP) and discuss strategies for improving students’ academic progress.
Step 3: Follow Up
A follow up meeting with a Counselor and/or Retention Specialist each semester to receive additional guidance and support. Students who have been dismissed are also required to provide mid-term progress reports to their counselors.
