GEOG 100 PHYSICAL GEOGRAPHY (CAN GEOG 2)
Units (Grade Option) 3; Class Hours: Minimum of 48 lecture hours/semester; Recommended: Eligibility for READ 836, and ENGL 836 or ESL 400; Prerequisite(s): None. Description: Introduction to the basic characteristics of maps, the earth’s grid, seasons, time zones, weather and climate, soils and vegetation, ocean currents, and landforms. The interrelationship of these basic factors is studied in the regional framework of the entire earth’s surface. Transfer: CSU: B1, UC. (IGETC: 5A)
GEOG 110 CULTURAL GEOGRAPHY (CAN GEOG 4)
Units (Grade Option) 3; Class Hours: Minimum of 48 lecture hours/semester; Recommended: Eligibility for READ 836, and ENGL 836 or ESL 400; Prerequisite(s): None. Description: Cultural geography studies the spatial interactions amongst nature, society, and culture. Course topics include the influence of environmental factors on human settlement and population change; human modifications of the environment through agriculture and industry; the role of technological and social change on the human experience of space and environment; and the role of factors including race, gender, and religion on how people organize and experience space.
