First 5 San Mateo County Cañada's ECE/CD Department has received a grant from First 5 SMC (2000-2006) to increase recrutiment and retention of quality teachers and childcare providers. The grant provides free textbooks to all ECE/CD majors (at Cañada and Skyline). It also provides bilingual (English/Spanish) support through Cañada's Learning Center. Family Support Program The goal of the Family Support Program is to increase the capacities of families and communities to nuture children. Research shows that building strong families is the most effective way to ensure the health and well-being of children. Every program develops in response to the expressed needs of that community based on a set of principles* of family support. Child Development Training Consortium This program is funded by the California Department of Education, Child Development Division (CDE/CDD) with Federal Block Grant Child Care and Development Quality Improvement Funds. The program is administered through the Yosemite Community College District. The program was created to address the critical shorage of qualified child care workers in the state of California. Cañada College's CDTC Program provides tuition reimbursement for ECE/CD majors. Profile forms are available in classes at the beginning of each term. |
